Adding Quality and Beauty to Homes
Fischer’s residential division specializes in the stone and ceramic tile, both of which are increasingly used in the construction of high-end homes. Today, more than ever before, home buyers favor tile for virtually every floor that demands a durable, hard surface — entry areas, kitchens, baths, utility rooms — but also for those floors where appearance is the priority; for example, in living, dining and family rooms. More fragile and porous stone tiles, a frequent choice in modern homes, increases the need for quality craftsmanship.
The industry has recognized Fischer quality and craftsmanship, giving the company a number of awards over the years for residential work, including a Spanish hacienda-styled home that used more than 6,000 square feet of tile. In 2006, Fischer won Tile Contractors Association of America award first place awards in both the residential and commercial divisions, the only company to win both awards in a single year. In fact, this was Fischer’s second time as a double award-winner; its first was in 1998, a Street of Dreams home in Serrano for U.S. Homes. The prize-winning 2006 residential installation was a custom home in Folsom.
For two years, Fischer employees have been working to implement standards set down by the National Housing Quality Certified Trade Contractor program, a quality assurance program of the National Association of Home Builders. The trade contractor program is a companion to a certification-based program for builders, launched by the NAHB in 2005 to recognize builders who have implemented and documented formal quality assurance systems. Fischer received certification in 2006.
