California State Capitol Restoration | Sacramento, CA

Fischer garnered national acclaim for its part in restoring the California State Capitol, including replication, prefabrication, and installation of the famous Minton tile in the Rotunda.

The company’s six crews of tile setters and installers put in 14,000 hours of work and used 45,000 square foot of tile on the venerable old building, built in 1874. Their work earned the company an award for most outstanding commercial project from the Ceramic Tile Institute of Sacramento. In addition to the rotunda, Fischer installed four tile mosaics, representing the state seal; restored first floor corridors; and installed new tile worked in the cafeteria, kitchens and bathrooms
